Grand Vin du Château Margaux

1972 is a mediocre year marked by a greeness resulting from the grapes failing to reach full maturity. We thought this wine should be drunk fairly quickly, but a bottle tasted blind in 2017 astounded us. The nose was superb, very complex, reminiscent of some beautiful, whole-cluster Burgundies. The acidity was noticeable, but gave length to the wine. Impressive for the vintage!

An exceptionally cold and late year, particularly during September, which never allowed the grapes to ripen correctly. (The picking began 10th October)
