Grand Vin du Château Margaux

1965 was the only year when no Château Margaux was produced. Very mediocre quality wines were blended with batches from other vintages to produce a wine under the label of "Non-vintage Château Margaux". This decision may seem incongruous today, but it should be seen in the very difficult context of those times.



After a roughly normal start to the growing season, the month of August was almost favourable, but September was catastrophic, with continual rain showers. The grapes were soon affected and could not be picked in a correct condition. (The picking began 1st October)
