Anti-frost protection

This weekend, we had to activate our anti-frost protection sprinkler system, installed in 1983 in our white vineyard which is particularly sensitive to spring frosts.

The principle consists of spraying the buds with water during the frost until the temperatures rise above freezing, generally after dawn. An envelope of ice forms around the buds, keeping them at a constant temperature of 0°C.

On Saturday, Sunday and Monday night, our team was on alert. In the middle of the night we had to go to the vineyard, took into account the temperatures, the wind and the air humidity before starting the watering pumps.

Thus we were able to save a large part of the crop, but we will make a more precise assessment in the next few days.

We would like to thank our teams who we can count on at any time of the day or night!
