The bottling of the 2023 vintage of Château Margaux marks a key step in the production cycle of our fine wines. This process, carried out with precision and rigor, is the culmination of two years of meticulous work, from harvest to barrel ageing.
Each wine, whether our red or white wines, undergoes a specific ageing process, adapted to its character and ageing potential. The bottling of our wines takes place in four successive stages, according to a carefully established schedule:
– The white wines of Château Margaux are the first to be bottled, after approximately 8 months of barrel ageing.
– The Margaux du Château Margaux, our third red wine, follows with bottling after approximately 18 months.
– The Pavillon Rouge du Château Margaux is bottled after 20 months of ageing.
– Finally, the Grand Vin, Château Margaux, closes this cycle after 21 months of ageing, embodying the excellence and complexity of our terroir.
Choosing the exact moment to bottle each wine is as crucial as choosing the harvest date. During ageing, the wine’s aromas, tannins, and balance evolve. This is why we take care to bottle at the optimal time to preserve the wine’s aromatic richness and structure.
Since 2023, Château Margaux has had a new, high-performance bottling line, integrated into the second-year cellar. This modern equipment offers greater flexibility in planning bottling, while improving our working conditions and the final quality of the wines.
Bottling is entrusted to the expert hands of our cellar team, whose expertise guarantees precise and respectful closures for the wines. This final step is crucial, as our wines are designed to improve for several decades. Once completed, all the bottles are carefully stored at the estate, awaiting to be labelled and shipped to wine lovers and connoisseurs around the world.
