A special design for the Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux 2020

The production of Pavillon Blanc is a tradition that goes back 100 years at Château Margaux, which has been producing white wine since 1710. Originally called Château Margaux vin blanc de sauvignon, in 1920 it was renamed Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux. With the 2020 vintage we want to celebrate the centenary of its name by creating a unique bottle to mark the occasion.

For the first time in its history, the Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux bottle has been sealed with wax. Its midnight blue colour has been chosen to reflect the font on the label. The wax seal is personalised with the Château logo, making this an exceptional bottle.

This vintage is available in three formats: bottles, magnums and double magnums.

Beneath the label, screen printed in white, is written “A century of Pavillon Blanc”, and the years 1920 and 2020 are interlaced in a modern and spare logo, screen printed in gold.

These bottles also have a specially designed new case. On the tops of the cases containing 3 and 6 bottles is the Château Margaux logo (which is also printed on the side) as well as the same phrase that appears on the bottle’s label, “A century of Pavillon Blanc 1920-20”.

Discreet, modern and elegant, this unique look reflects Château Margaux.

 

A few words about Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux:

The vineyard for our white grapes covers 11 hectares and is located on one of the estate’s historic plots of land.

With excellence in mind, over the years we have been increasingly selective, and we now keep no more than half of the harvest to make Pavillon Blanc.

Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux stands out for the balance of its richness, unctuousness and tension, but also for its formidable capacity for ageing.

The character of the taste of the young Pavillon Blanc – combining finesse, complexity, richness and length in the mouth – is remarkable for a wine produced from 100% Sauvignon. As it ages, it retains its brightness but gains in subtlety and delicacy. It can continue to improve in its bottle for many years.
