End of the harvest!

The harvest of the 2016 vintage came to an end last Tuesday, with the usual mix of a sense of fulfilment, and of nostalgia. The wonderful weather conditions greatly contributed to our search for a perfect, most accomplished and delicate ripeness on each of our plots, making 2016 probably one of the most spread out in the history of the Château: around 25 days separate the picking of our young Merlots on gravel and that of our Cabernet Sauvignons on clay.
In the cellars, we have tasted the entirety of our Merlot and Cabernet Franc vats, as well as our first great Cabernet Sauvignons, the very ones that will probably make up a good part of the 2016 first wine. The result is beyond what we had hoped: these wines are incredibly powerful! Hard on the heels of 2015, the prospect of another great vintage is becoming, day by day, and tasting by tasting, more and more within reach….
