Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux

1993
1993 is another example of when better quality is attained in white wine than in red wine, as the Sauvignon white grapes were harvested earlier and were therefore less affected by the rain. As usual, this vintage has been through a slightly dull phase before developing the real bouquet of a mature wine. Today, it is showing remarkably well and combines lots of freshness with the complexity of a well developed bouquet. To drink now, but there is no urgency. (October 2018)

Margaux

Climate

After an earlier than normal bud-break, the weather conditions were very favourable for the flowering, which was particularly fast and even. July was very dry but cool ; August was very hot and dry. On 10th September, the quality potential was remarkable. Unfortunately, the harvest was very rainy. (The picking began on 19th September)
