1968

Grand Vin du Château Margaux

1968
1968 is the epitome of a bad vintage. We sometimes wonder with concern if it could happen again today. From the very beginning, the wines were short, light, simple, of not much interest. Over the years, a certain finesse has appeared: the privilege of great terroirs, whose quality manages, despite everything, to come through in such conditions. Today, 1968 is a tired wine, which should have been drunk a long time ago.

Climate

The beginning of the growing season was normal, but the months of August and September were unfortunately extremely wet. The harvest had to be done very quickly as the grapes, which were not yet ripe, were already affected by rot. (The picking began 30th September)
